History of Al-Mihras
The company was founded in 1997 as an Andalusian Cooperative Society, beginning its work as a manager of sports facilities in the towns of the Alto Andarax region. Later the services were diversified; starting in 1999 the collaboration with the Patronato Municipal de Deportes del Ayuntamiento de Almería and its activities of the "Mayores en Forma" Program.
This was followed by a few years of collaboration with the Municipal Sports Board of Berja with environmental awareness activities and from 2007 the "Nature and You" and "Nature for All" programs of the Junta de Andalucía. As a result of this, associated activities were developed in the Sierra María - Los Vélez Natural Park, but above all and almost continuously in the Sierra Nevada Natural Area.
Ecotourism, Active Tourism and Environmental Education
A milestone for the company in 2009 was its adherence to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourismwhich allows us to collaborate with the administration of the Sierra Nevada Natural AreaWe are committed to creating a positive impact on the territory in the best possible way and to further improve our own environmental performance.
This led us to become part of the Sierra Nevada European Charter for Sustainable Tourism Forum Associationsince 2010 of the Ecotourism Association in Spain and also led us to join the Ecotourism Club in Spain. Thanks to this, we have been able to work in an even more sustainable way, which we try to transmit to our clients, as well as the respect and admiration we feel for nature in general and for "our" Sierra in particular.
