Three routes to eat the Alpujarra of Granada

The Alpujarra of Granada is a magical place that awaits on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Here you come to go hiking, connect with nature and light the fireplace, but also to devour a good Alpujarreño dish. In fact, we get lost in three of its paths, where, after a few kilometers, a whole feast awaits us. Will you join us?

Route of the Barranco del Poqueira:

  • It goes through the villages of Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira.
  • It offers impressive views of the Mulhacén and the Poqueira river.
  • It can be done in both directions, with a distance of 10 km.
  • To recharge your batteries, we recommend the Casa Julio restaurant in Pampaneira (traditional Alpujarreña cuisine) or the Teide restaurant in Bubión (XXL dishes and menu of the day).

2. Route to the abandoned village of La Cebadilla:

  • It begins in the neighborhood of the castle of Capileira.
  • It crosses irrigation ditches, farmhouses and pine forests.
  • It offers views of the Veleta peak and the possibility of observing mountain goats.
  • A longer variant can be done along the left bank of the Poqueira River.
  • La Alacena bodega in Capileira is ideal for a break with local wine and tapas.
  • The Jardín de los Sabores in Capileira offers local and Indian cuisine.

3. Route through the villages of La Taha:

  • It joins the villages of Pitres, Mecina, Mecinilla, Fondales, Ferreirola and Atalbéitar.
  • It offers a quiet ride through narrow trails and rural landscapes.
  • You can visit the workshop of the guitar maker Andrés Marvi in Ferreirola and the Prado Toro farmhouse, designed by Donald Gray.
  • El Jardín del Mirador in Pitres offers traditional cuisine with modern touches.
  • La Cueva de Mora Luna in Mecina is famous for its pizzas.
