Marboré: a high altitude route

This route has a shelter at the end, in case we want to spend the night, but it is advisable to return, as there is plenty of time. The 8 hours add up to a total of 15 kilometers, with a lot of uphill on the way there and a lot of downhill on the way back.

The beginning of this tour is at the Pineta parking lot (Parking Pradera de Pineta), a parking area for cars. To get there we have to take the A 2611. When we arrive at kilometer 13, some signs indicate that we are in the Pineta valley. The Pineta Valley itself is an ideal area to spend a day with the family. It has a river called the Cinca river, many shaded areas and a table to make picnic around a beautiful road that welcomes us with a wonderful natural landscape of the Aragonese mountains.

From the Pineta parking lot you walk along a forest road that goes into the mountain in the direction of Marboré Lake. This is the well-known Marboré RoadThis route has first a forest area, during the first kilometers. This route has first a forest area, during the first kilometers.

Once out of the forest, we can make out the mountainous beauty, the Cinca waterfallsWe will be able to see the Cinca river descents through the valley of Pineta. From here, the ascent is made without shadows, with the sun beating hard in case we are in one of those sunny days.

The ascent is made by a mountain path without shade, from where there are also very good views. Afterwards, a stretch in the form of a zig zag with a steep slope. Once we have finished this hard stretch called El Embudo, we arrive at the Pineta Balcony.

From the Balcón de Pineta we walk along the trail and reach the large lake Ibón de Marboréalso called Marboré lake or Pineta lake.

Next to the lake there is a refuge for mountaineers: the Tucarroya refuge. This hut is the place where some people stop for the night during the difficult route to the summit of Monte Perdido. Those who want to go there should bring their own material to eat and sleep.

The return to the Pineta parking is done by the same route.
